Ricky Hughes

Received notification that Ricky died on 4/9/2025. Visitation and funeral service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park on 4/18/2025 beginning at 11 am. Rest in Peace Ricky. 

James “Rick” Hughes, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and Papa passed peacefully into heaven Wednesday April 9th, 2025, in Waco, Texas at the age of 71. Born May 7th, 1953 in Little Rock, Arkansas to “Jimmy” and Ruthie Hughes. Rick loved sports and was a devoted Razorback fan. He attended McClellan High School where he played basketball earning a scholarship to play at UALR. He also loved playing baseball and fast-pitch softball. Rick won the first annual “Home Run Derby.” After college, Rick went to work for Walmart Distribution Center in Waco, Texas ending with 42 years of service. Rick's legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, generosity and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and coworkers. He was a man of strength and integrity, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rick is survived by his wife and best friend of 33 years, Karen; his mother Ruthie Hughes of Mabelvale, AR; brother, Gary Hughes (Maurice) also of Mabelvale, AR; his daughter Heather Morton of Searcy, AR; stepson, Kerry Campbell of Texas; 6 grandkids; and 2 great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Hughes; and his grandparents, Sadie and Daniel Rush Hughes, and Horace and Pearl Crook. A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 18, 2025 at 12:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to service at Pinecrest Funeral Home(7401 AR-5, Alexander, AR 72002)
